Spotlight on Michelle Girardin
Liberty School is proud to shine a spotlight on several staff members throughout the school year. Staff members’ names have been drawn at random. They will be featured monthly both on a bulletin board at school as well as in the local newspaper. This month’s Spotlight is on Michelle Girardin
Michelle Girardin has been a teacher’s aide with Liberty School’s Pre-K program for three years. She is a graduate of Liberty High School and Quincy College.
Mrs. Girardin says the best part of being a Pre-K Aide is “getting paid to play with kids!” She loves seeing the excitement of the children when they beat her at Uno. The two aspects of her job Michelle likes least are finding a tub full of markers with the caps off and hearing Carole Peterson’s song “Goolie Goolie” on Monday mornings.
During her free time, Michelle likes to read self-help books. Her favorite bird is the cardinal. Girardin says, “I always stop and watch a cardinal. I love how their red feathers stand out against the background.” Michelle loves the color purple. She says she’d wear purple every day. Mrs. Girardin doesn’t really collect anything, but she does have each of the state quarters.
In her free time, Michelle likes to watch TV shows when her sons aren’t around such as The Young and the Restless, The Bachelor, and Hawaii 5.0. She also likes to talk on the phone. If she wins a million dollars, Mrs. Girardin says she would take a cruise, build her family’s dream house, and save for her boys’ college expenses. “I may share some with my family!” she adds.
One thing Michelle would like to change about the world is the national budget, state budget, and school budget. One of her fondest school memories is the fun she has as a Pre-K Aide. “Kids really do say the darndest things,” says Mrs. Girardin.
Michelle is the daughter of Leon and Kay Lentz of Liberty, and she has a sister, Sue Lefringhouse, and a brother, Mike Lentz. Michelle and her husband, Mitch, have been married for twelve years. They have two sons: Luke is in 5th grade, and Alex is in 4th grade. The Girardin family recently expanded when they added a labradoodle named Rusty.
Thank you, Mrs. Girardin, for all you do for our school.
