Archer Daniels Midland Company recently donated $2,000 to Liberty Community Unit #2 School District. The donation will go toward purchasing food to fill backpacks weekly during the school year for Liberty School children in the Liberty Kidzpack Program.
”We are thrilled that ADM is so supportive of making sure our children are getting the proper nourishment to do their best ischool, both academically and behaviorally! Research shows that when students are hungry they do not perform at a successful rate. What a blessing it is to receive this grant and the support from the individuals who pack the backpacks every week! It is so nice to see that there are people and local companies who truly understand the importance of community service,” said Kelle Bunch, Superintendent of Liberty Community Unit No. 2 School District.
The Liberty School Kidzpack program was organized in 2013 to help meet some of the nutritional needs of children at Liberty school over the weekends. It is a 100% volunteer run program comprised of community members, and school administration for direction, and is supported by contributions from companies like Archer Daniels Midland, local community organizations and individuals.
The donation was given through ADM Cares. ADM Cares is a social investment program that directs funds to initiatives and organizations that drive meaningful social, economic and environmental progress worldwide. The program comprises three distinct focus areas: supporting the responsible development of agriculture, improving the quality of life in ADM communities and fostering employee giving and volunteer activities.
