JH/HS Announcements - February 15

Liberty High School

Good Morning Liberty!

February 15, 2018

Friday, February 16 at 9:00 am in Mr. Buyck's room there will be a guest speaker.  If you are interested in engineering, armed forces, and construction.

Speaker Bio:

I am a Recruiter in the US Army Reserves, but I am also an Engineer. I previously had been a
Horizontal Construction Engineer and am trained on such equipment as
bulldozers, graders, scrapers, backhoes, and cranes. I had previously done
that for 10 years before moving into my current position. Before joining
the Army Reserves, I worked for my family construction company in Chatham,
IL. I started there when I was 7 and worked my way from a simple laborer

        to the jobsite foreman/construction manager.

I believe I can provide great insight on both the civilian and military
fields to help some of your students to make a educated choice in either
way they choose to go after graduation.

Sophomores/Juniors: If you are interested in learning more about taking classes through Quincy Vocational Technical Center next year (including nursing, engineering, graphic design, automotive tech) please plan on attending a lunch meeting on February 22nd in Mrs. Miller’s room to get more info.

Sophomores/Juniors: Billy Schaffer, the director of admissions at JWCC will be here 8th hour on February 22nd to talk about JWCC’s new 2x2 program, through which you could potentially graduate from high school having already earned an associate’s degree. We will be meeting in the old gym. You need to sign up for this in Mr. Adams’ room, you will not be able to sign up unless you have a note from your 8th hour teacher giving you permission to miss their class on the 22nd. If you are unable to attend you can find a time to meet with Mr. Adams after the presentation to get more info. Parents are invited to attend if they are able.

The Yearbook class is dedicating 2 pages to Chandler Clinging. This is the year Chandler would have graduated. If anyone has any pictures growing up with him, please bring or email them to a yearbook student or Mrs. McCleary. We will scan the pictures and use them in the yearbook and for Baccalaureate. Chandler's parents are aware we are doing this and will also be sending in pictures.
