Dear Parents/Guardians:
Liberty High School’s PBIS team is writing today to inform and invite you to a very important awareness and educational event with Tina Meier on Thursday, November 7. She is a nationally acclaimed cybersafety speaker whose daughter took her own life at age 13 following a severe cyberbullying attack provoked by an adult neighbor.
We hear time and time again that one of your greatest fears as a parent in the possibility that your child could be victimized or harmed online. Therefore, we continue to try to provide parents and youth information aimed to proactively protect and prevent these concerns from becoming reality.
Megan’s story provides students with real, first-hand knowledge of the impact of bullying and cyberbullying for the purpose of building empathetic understanding. The presentation will provide you and your child up-to-date information about the potential online and offline dangers.
On Thursday, November 7, we are inviting ALL Liberty parents/guardians and community members to attend a FREE dinner and gather information from local organizations (JWCC, QMG, Blessing, Adams County Suicide Prevention Coalition and others) from 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM. Immediately following the dinner, Tina will present from 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM in the small gym. Tina will also be presenting to the 7th - 12th grade students and all certified staff the following day.
If you are needing childcare free of charge, a JH classroom will be open (supervised by members from Liberty Christian Church) and available to watch your children so you can attend on Thursday, November 7.
If you are planning on attending the dinner before the presentation and/or needing childcare, we ask that you fill out the form attached and return to school or complete the form linked here and on the school website by October 15th so we can get an approximate number for the event.
